Prayer for November

ALL SAINTS and ALL SOULS

Loving Father, in this month of November we remember those who have gone before us to everlasting life. By our Baptism, you made us your holy people and called us to share in the joy of your saints.  By their help and example you guide us to live for others as Jesus taught us.  We remember also our family and friends who have been such loving examples and role models of what Jesus expects of us. May their prayers strengthen and comfort us as we strive to be people faith and hope.  Amen.

THE NOVEMBER REMEMBRANCE BOOK

The Remembrance Book is located in the College foyer and contains the names of departed family and friends of members of those in the St Pius X community. Students are asked to write the names of these loved ones in this book and prayers will be said for them throughout the month of November.

EREA Renewal Assembly & Launch of the Strategic Plan

On Monday 31st October the College was honoured to have Dr Wayne Tinsey, Executive Director EREA, visit the College to conclude the school’s School Renewal process and to launch the next College Strategic Plan 2017-2019. The Renewal Report is on the College Website and it is very affirming and with excellent recommendations. The College was privileged to welcome Mr Brian Roberts EREA Director Regional Services, Dr Tony Bracken CSO Assistant Director, Fr Paul Finucane, Br Carl Sherrin, Mr Peter Hughes Board Chair, Mrs Jan Hunter Board member and Mr Greg Wilson Board member.

In his address, Dr Tinsey spoke passionately to the community and particularly to the boys:

"So boys, live your lives as best you can with purpose, and love, and joy. Use each day to show those who are closest to us how much you care about them, and treat others with kindness and respect. Learn from your mistakes and grow from your failures. Strive at all costs to make a better world, so that someday, if you are blessed with the chance to look back on your time here, you can know that it was well spent; that you made a difference; that your fleeting presence had a lasting impact on the lives of other human beings.

Today we recognise that your school is and has been authentic to its mission to be the best St Pius X College it can be. It has done its best to ‘walk the talk’ and embody the values of the Charter for Edmund Rice schools in this place at this time. This is a great school!"

The College was commissioned to continue its work faithful to the Gospel and to the Charter Touchstones.  The new Strategic Plan was also blessed and launched. A copy of this plan may be found on the College website.

Mr Russo reccognised with Inclusive Community Award

At the Renewal Assembly Dr Tinsey announced that Mr Russo will be presented with a National Award across all EREA schools in honour of his work with the students and the whole St Pius X College community. Mr Russo will be presented with the Touchstone Award for Inclusive Community on 26th November and I will provide more details following the event.

The College congratulates and thanks Mr Russo for this most deserving recognition of his service.

Year 12 Speechcraft Graduation

Congratulations to the Year 12, 2017 Student Leaders who graduated on Monday night. They have certainly improved and this has been a very successful program. Particular thanks to Ms Maria Panatalone and to Mr David Bullard and the Old Boys' Association who generously funded this program again this year. We thank Br Sherrin and Br Curtin for joining in this event.

End HSC Exams

This Friday the HSC concludes for all our current Year 12 students. The exams have been very challenging and the students tell me that they feel they were “fair”. We certainly congratulate them on their efforts.  I thank the HSC Presiding Officer, Mrs Cheryl Braisby, and the HSC Superviors for conducting these exams at the College.

The Year 12 students will need to officially sign out from the College next Wednesday 9th November to return textbooks and other equipment, attend to any outstanding fees and collect their College Reference.

The remaining official occasion is the Year 12 Formal on Friday 11th November at Curzon Hall.

There will be a BBQ at the school at 11.00am on Friday 16th December following the release of the results and ATARs.

Every blessing on all our Year 12 students.

Founder's Day - Parent Donations

My sincere thanks to the various parents who have offered donations and contributions for the Founders day lunch for the students. The generosity of the St Pius X College community always shines through when it is needed and I sincerely thank those parents who have contributed.
