SUNSMART

It is very important for all families to be SunSmart.  It is now recommended that we ‘Slip, Slop, Slap, slide on sunglasses and utilise shade where possible.

As of September 1 all students will be required to wear their hats outside.  The Sunsmart app can be downloaded for iPhones and android phones to alert families of dangerous UV levels. Check out this website https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/sunsmart/id402707467?mt=8  as a start to where to find the appropriate app for your phone.

FATHERS DAY

Thanks to all those who have sent in photos of their dads or granddads with their children for our Fathers’ Day presentation during the Fathers’ Day breakfast last week.

CONFIRMATION THANK YOU

A Big Thank You to the children who contributed to the Confirmation ceremony as part of the choir or Altar Serving.  Volunteering has a very positive impact on our wellbeing.  Not only do we get the benefit of these students’ talents but they also develop a sense of pride in themselves and enrich our Community Spirit.  They all did a great job!

RESILIENCE

This term the students in Years 3- 6 are learning about facing challenges.  These topics lend themselves to discussions about resilience and having a positive outlook on life.  Here are some ways parents can foster resilience in their children

Focus on the positive when asking about their day…

  • Tell me something good that happened today?
  • Tell me something funny that happened today?

Remind children not to presume what others may be thinking

When discussing a challenging situation help your children to look at it from another person’s perspective

Remind children that we can’t change/control things that happen but we can change/control how we think about it.  We can try to look for a positive.
