Principal's Report

Last Monday, the first recipients of our new Student Achievement Awards received the new certificates. A huge thank you to Michelle Huppe for designing the certificates for us.

Congratulations to Ben, Emmett, and Tom who competed in the Monash Waverley Swimming Carnival last week. Special mention to Ben who came a fabulous second in his race, the 9/10-year-old boys 50-metre Backstroke, this means that Ben will be competing at the Eastern Region Swimming Carnival on Friday 13th March.

International Food Night

On Monday 23rd March the Parents' Association is holding their first community function - the International Food Night. Please put this date in your diary! Families are encouraged to bring a plate to share their own special cultural food. Refer to the PA page for more information.

Parents’ Association

Recently, all staff engaged in CPR Training. It was at this training that our awareness was again raised regarding the importance of a defibrillator in dealing with a sudden cardiac arrest. As we all are only too aware, sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at any time. It is one of the leading causes of death in Australia but it doesn't have to be. Defibrillation within the first few minutes of having a sudden cardiac arrest increases the chance of survival to over 70%. The nearest defribullator for us to access is at the corner of Montgomery Avenue and Blackburn Road and is only accessible during business hours. The staff spoke after the training regarding the school purchasing our own. On Tuesday night I took the proposal to the Parents’ Association and they unanimously agreed to fund the purchase of a defibrillator. This is another example of funds collected locally being utilised to purchase something that will benefit our school community.

Easter Raffle

The school is again organising a fantastic Easter Raffle!! To make it bigger and better we are asking that families kindly donate Easter Eggs, lollies, chocolates, and Easter giftware. From these donations, Easter hampers will be made up to be offered as prizes. The Easter donations need to be brought into class before Friday 20th March.

Raffle tickets will be 50c each and one book of ten tickets will be sent home tomorrow to each family. We kindly ask that if all sold and unsold tickets, along with the money are returned to the school office by Thursday 26th March. Additional books will be available from the Office.

The raffle will be drawn on Friday 27th March, the last day of the term at the final assembly at 2 pm, with lots of prizes up for grabs!

House Sports

Tomorrow I am looking forward to once again attending the House Athletics for students in Years 3 to 6 at the Waverley Athletics Track (behind Central Reserve, Glen Waverley). I hope you are as excited as I am! I have seen the students practicing enthusiastically during PE sessions and I am sure they are all looking forward to competing tomorrow on the professional athletics track.
