Swimming Starts for Foundation and
Year One
This week has seen the Foundation and Year One students start their swimming program.
What a wonderful time they are having at the ‘Swim Right’ Aquatic Centre each day. It has been great to see the enjoyment on the children’s faces as they learn new skills or practice old ones.
Thank you to all the parent helpers who have come to the pool and helped the children dress and undress for their lesson.
I have been amazed at how organised the children have become with their towels out, school clothes neatly folded and thongs ready to wear after the lesson.
Matt from Swim Right has complimented the children on their behaviour in and out of the pool.
Well done Foundation and Year One children!

BOTTLE TOP ART
In Term 3 Issy S, Jade D and Saskia M created an elective of bottle top art. We have designed this artwork purposely for this terms Creative Minds program.
It has been a pleasure to work with a couple of people from each year level, and we have done so well that we have decided to put it up above the library entrance. This will be an artwork that will represent Creative Minds. This artwork will be remembered in the StJames Community.
Thank you to Miss Stewart for helping us in this elective and Ms Liston for organising this elective.

GREEN DAY
On Friday the 11th of November the whole school participated in Green Day. On the day all students were encouraged to wear a touch of green, walk or ride to school and bring a nude-food lunch. Also on the day, the class environment leaders came up with an activity related to the environment, and experienced an hour without power.
It was great to see people making an effort to be more environmentally friendly on Friday, as that was what the day was all about. Majority of the school walked or rode to school and brought a nude food lunch, but we also saw some people just bringing less wrappers than usual, which also contributed to a better, more environmentally friendly school.
These are the results from each class' contribution.
Even those who did not have an entirely nude-food lunch brought less wrappers than what they usually do, and some of those that lived too far away to walk/ride to school still made the effort to be dropped off closer to school and to walk the rest of the way.
Thank you to everyone for making the most of it on Friday, and hopefully in the future we can bring less wrappers and ride or walk to school more often even if it’s not Green Day. Each little act towards a more sustainable school can mean a lot when it comes to being more environmentally-friendly.
Thanks again,
Saffron and Chiara
