Boorowa Central School Girls League Tag Team
Yesterday the Boorowa Central School Open Girls League Tag team went to Young to compete in the South West League Tag Championships. It was a wonderful day where the girls excelled above their own expectations and performed at a high level, dominating their opposition.
The first game of the day was against Hennessy Catholic College, the girls went into the game worried, however, these worries were unwarranted with the girls muscling out a tough win in a game that went back and forth with both teams scoring and struggling to take control of the game. Some powerful runs and swerving from Abbie and Mackella broke the game open and we beat Hennessy 14-8.
This win put us through to the major semi final where we met Sacred Heart Cootamundra. Confidence was oozing out of our team. The girls showed more energy and teamwork than their opposition, giving them no room or opportunities to break our line. Amanda and Mackella took their chances scoring great tries and Amanda converting a try from the sideline. The girls won this game 10-0.
This win took them into to the final for the day against Junee High. Junee made an error off the kick off which put our girls on the front foot and they never looked back. The highlight of this game was the line break followed by a 60 metre run by Jemma. She scored the try and the team erupted around her. This try put Boorowa up 20-0 and let them enjoy the last 5 minutes throwing the ball around and displaying some great skills. This win sees the girls progress to the next round in Wagga Wagga next term.
Our girls team showed great skills and teamwork. They all played their roles so well and thoroughly deserved their win. It was an amazing accomplishment for a team from such a small school to beat other larger schools. We are extremely proud of their efforts.

A team of very excited secondary students travelled to Dubbo on Thursday 12 March 2020 to participate in the Western School Sports Association secondary swimming trials. It was very pleasing to see the effort that all swimmers put towards both their individual events as well as the team events.
Many improved their entry times. As a result of their performances two students, Jacob Piper ( 3rd 17-19 backstroke) and Tamsyn Ritchie (12 years -2nd 100 backstroke, 3rd 50 freestyle, 3rd 100 breaststroke), qualified in their individual events. Additionally it was fantastic to see that all our relay teams were very competitive which resulted in Boorowa Central School having 3 relay teams advancing to the Combined High Schools (CHS) swimming championships.
Boys 14 Year Olds 200 Freestyle Relay: Kyle Pye, Alexander Patyuk, Tristen Pye, Thomas Duffy
Girls 12-19 6x50 Freestyle Relay: Mackella Pye, Heidi Klose, Tamsyn Ritchie, Abbie Grant, Imogen Pye, Isabella Piper

Many thanks to all the wonderful parents who transported the swimmers to Dubbo and supported them on the day.
Boorowa Central School also had two staff members (Ingrid Corcoran & Julie Poplin) who officiated on both days for western secondary swimming trials and western primary swimming trials.
