School Procedures for the Bushfire Season

Last week, we incorrectly posted some past procedures for bushfire season. We would like to apologise for this mixup and have attached the most recent Bushfire Preparedness Policy for everyone’s reference.

Child Safety Posters - Please Read and Discuss

During Term 4 of each year, we place a lot of emphasis as part of our Be Positive program on educating the kids about protective behaviours. At last week’s assembly we shared with everyone a poster about my body safety rules. These posters will be displayed around the school encouraging our students to remember some of the important actions we need to take to keep safe. Attached is a copy of that poster for reference and we encourage all families to take a read with their children to support child safety as a community. We have also attached a poster on early warning signs, which is invaluable to help kids understand when something is not right.

Child First and The Orange Door

1300 783 341

Child first stands for Child and Family Information, Referral and Support Team.

Child FIRST teams are located across Victoria, each providing children, young people and families easier access to the services they need.

Child FIRST provides a central referral point to a range of community-based family services and other supports within each of the Child FIRST catchment areas.

Child FIRST links vulnerable children, young people and their families into the relevant services they need.

Factors which affect a child's safety, stability or development are:

Significant parenting problems that may be affecting the child's development

Serious family conflict, including family breakdown

Families under pressure due to a family member's physical or mental illness, substance abuse, disability or bereavement

Young, isolated and/or unsupported families

Significant social or economic disadvantage that may adversely impact on a child's care or development.

What is the Orange Door?

Child FIRST, as the access point for family services, is progressively transitioning to The Orange Door.

The Orange Door is the new access point for women, children and young people who are experiencing family violence, or families who need assistance with the care and wellbeing of children to access the services they need to be safe and supported.

If you, or someone you know is struggling with their current situation, we encourage a phone call to Child FIRST and The Orange Door to assist. A self-referral can be made by calling 1300 783 341
