Chinese New Year Assembly

On 8th February, two colourful and cheerful lions with a band came to visit our school assembly to wish all the students, parents and teachers a great New Year of the Pig.  All the students and staff went WILD when the happy dancing lion entered our MPR as a surprise!  In case you missed it, here are some snaps to share with you.

The Lantern Festival on February 19th marked the end of the 15-day Chinese New Year period. Chinese people celebrate this festival by doing various activities, most importantly lighting lanterns, which can be floating on water, fixed to structures, held in your hand, or drifting off into the sky. They also set off fireworks, guess riddles written on lanterns, eat “tangyuan” (sticky rice balls), and watch lion dances, dragon dances, and stilt walking performances.

The Mandarin team would like to wish you and your family a great year of the Pig!
