What’s on at CHPS and the Alliance Française

40 students from Grades 3 to 6 are heading off to the Alliance Française in St Kilda on Tuesday May 22nd to recite their poems in front of a panel of judges. They’re been working really hard during the past four weeks to learn their poems by heart and on delivering a polished performance. We wish them all good luck and look forward to reporting on their success in a later newsletter.

Here is the poem the Grade Threes have been learning;

What’s on at Victorian Opera

Victorian Opera’s 2018 season features two French operas which will be sung in the original language.

William Tell, an opera in French by Rossini, an Italian, about the sharp-shooting Swiss national hero will open on on July 14th, (Bastille Day), and will also be performed on July 17th and 19th at the Palais Theatre in St Kilda.  Tickets are still available from $35. Navigate here to get your tickets.

Pelléas et Mélisande, Debussy’s only opera, is being performed to commemorate the 100th anniversary this year of the death of the French composer.  Based on a Greek myth, it features ethereal harmonies and atmospheric poetry, and will be performed at the Palais in October. Click here for more information.
