School Council update

We farewelled David Garner and Vanessa Teague from the School Council earlier this year, after many years of contribution to the school community. We thank David for the years he served as our School Council President.

We welcomed three new parent members to the School Council, Nick Scarborough, Brian Bird and Mim Slattery.

Officeholders were elected :-

 Vanessa Todd                 - President

Sam Day                           -  Vice-President

Nick Scarborough         - Treasurer

Mim Slattery                   -  Secretary

As always if you want to be involved in the sub-committees of the council please contact us (http://www.cliftonhillps.vic.edu.au/main/council#submenu1).

Payment of school fees is tracking well against last year. We encourage those who haven’t already paid to ensure they have a payment plan with the school.

Fundraising for the raffle has been masterfully handled by Tali Bernard and we are on track for the raffle tickets to go home with children to sell in June.

We are building stronger links between the School Council and the School Fair Committee.  Kate Lovett attended the April School Council meeting and updated us on how Fair preparations are tracking.

We are keen to finalise with the school community what the funds raised at the Fair will be spent on in 2019. This conversation has come up with some great suggestions to date but if you have not contributed as yet please feed them back to the School Council ASAP so we can consider them in this years decision making process. Information on building and works priorities will be coming out in a few weeks and remember it is important that as a school community we think big around ideas that may require a portion of Fair fundraising over several years. So put your thinking caps on and let us know.

In the past 5 years, the Fair funds have been spent on the following wonderful initiatives:

  • Science lab
  • Solar panels
  • MPR Cooling system
  • Organ Factory Development

Page Street  Update

A working group has been formed to tackle the safety issues in Page Street. There are numerous avenues we are pursuing in this area including:

  • Immediate traffic safety issues have been raised with local police
  • Discussing potential infrastructure solutions with the City of Yarra and advocating for improved drop off options in surrounding streets, specifically Gold St. We will update you as discussions progress in coming weeks
  • Further information is in the newsletter about a parent led walking bus idea

It is important that you remember to be tolerant and respectful of others in matters such as this. We need to be considerate of our neighbours and work together to find an innovative solution. Please contact Mim or Therese if you would like to be involved in resolving these issues.

As always it is important users of  Camp Australia before and after school care liaise directly with Camp Australia and provide any feedback on the level of service (both good and bad) (oshc@campaustralia.com.au ).

Thank you all,

Mim Slattery
