Meet our College Captains

Lara Breen
Sport Captain, Cranbourne Campus
When did you start your studies at St. Peter’s College?
I started at St. Peter’s College in 2014 as a little Year 7 student.
Tell us about your family?
My family is made up of my mum, dad, other sister who’s currently studying Physiotherapy at Monash University and my twin sister Cody. It’s an exciting year for Cody and I, as we are finishing school, turning 18 and starting new chapters in our lives!
Tell us about your other interests?
I love netball, as I get to be competitive and also have fun with my friends. I am in love with animals, so any chance I get, I will take my dog for a walk. However, I love hanging out with my friends, doing things like, getting food, partying, or just a causal girl’s night. I am obsessed with water skiing in the summer, and any chance our family gets to go out on the boat we will.
Year 12 Studies:
I am a Year 12 VCAL student and my subjects consist of, English, Maths, Religion, PDS (Personal Development Skills) and WRS (Work Related Skills). I also am currently doing a TAFE course, Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance.
Have you already completed any of your VCE Studies prior to this year?
No I haven’t.
2019 College Annual Theme
Take courage, it is I; be not afraid
What does this mean to you?
Personally, this means a lot to me, because I was always that shy girl, who would shake while speaking in front of a large crowd, and there was a lot of things I didn’t do or participate in because I didn’t have the confidence. ‘Be not Afraid’ taught me not to be afraid, because fear and anxiety can get in the way of a lot of things, and stop you from doing what you really what to do. ‘Be not Afraid’ has helped me grow into the person I am now and couldn’t be more thankful for that.
How will you live this statement throughout the year in your role?
By taking challenges, I would normally back down from, encouraging people out of their comfort zone, just like St. Peter’s College did for me, leading the College in events outside and inside school and lastly, to grow my confidence at different occasions, outside and inside school.
For yourself in your Captains role?
To be an approachable Captain, gain and give respect. To be a leader to all, give my input and give all my strength and effort in getting everything done. Also, encouraging everyone to do their very best in all fields.
For yourself as a Year 12 student?
Organising myself, with either a timetable or diary and also finding a balance between, school, work and a social life.
Personally?
To make Year 12 the very best year, sign up and do everything this year, make many memories within school and with my friends. Keeping a balance and completing every task given to me and organising my time better.
What would you like your legacy be for St. Peter’s College?
To inspire others, to not be afraid and try new things, go for school leadership roles, that you were to nervous to do, don’t doubt yourself. Remember mistakes are okay. To inspire others through my actions. I also want to inspire everyone, that you don’t need to do VCE or be top of the class to be a Captain, you just have to be yourself.
What are you immediate life ambitions and aspirations once you complete your studies
What are your immediate life ambitions and aspirations once you complete your studies at St. Peter’s College?
Right now, to be honest with you, I’m a bit unsure what I would like to do in the future. I am leaning towards studying at a TAFE course in Event Management, but I also would love to travel and explore the world first.
What are your long term life ambitions and aspirations?
Find a career that I love doing, so it doesn’t feel like a job to me.
In one sentence what would you like to say to your fellow students to convey your pride in your College?
Don’t be afraid to do anything, do what you want to do, don’t follow, but lead. Inspire others to be like yourself and to remember to always smile.

2019 College Annual Theme
Take courage, it is I; be not afraid
What does this mean to you?
If you want to do something, go and do it. Or you fail try and try again because you will eventually get to where you want. Even if it takes you longer than what you originally planned it would, and don’t worry about what others think about you and what you do, because if you like doing something different to what they do see that as a positive, because it means that you are not a follower and you’re not trying to make people happy. You are just wanting to make yourself happy and do what you love to do.
For yourself in your Captains role?
Have more students participate in school sporting activites.
For yourself as a Year 12 student?
To finish school above standard and leave knowing that I have tried my best at everything that I do.
Personally?
Finish my CERT III in Fitness and be accepted into the Richmond Institute of Sports in 2020.
What would you like your legacy be for St. Peter’s College?
That I was someone who anyone can talk to and made more people want to participate in sports at St. Peters College.
What are you immediate life ambitions and aspirations once you complete your studies at St. Peter’s College?
Currently I am not 100% sure, but I want to be accepted into the Richmond Institute of Sports in 2020 enrolment and to have a sustainable job.
In one sentence what would you like to say to your fellow students to convey your pride in your College?
Have belief in yourself. If you believe in yourself you can do anything you want, and don’t let others tell you that you can’t.
