Breakfast Like a King
Each Thursday morning, on the Cranbourne Campus, I don my apron and head across to breakfast club. Together with a dedicated group of students, we set up tables, put the kettle on and cook toast for anyone who comes along. I love these morning as they provide opportunities to catch up on how studies are going, what students are watching on Netflix and generally to connect with a group of wonderful young people.
Breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day. It kick starts your metabolism after the fasting of sleep, helps burn calories throughout the day and has been linked to improved memory and concentration in students. Low blood sugar levels due to a lack of breakfast can reduce a student’s ability to concentrate in class, to focus on instructions and may result in poor behaviours.
At the Cranbourne campus, St Peter’s offers student’s breakfast each Monday to Friday from 8.00am until 8.50am.
A roster of staff and students provide, toast, fruit, cereal and a hot drink to any student FREE OF CHARGE.
If your son or daughter are rushing out the door at home without breakfast, please encourage students to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity offered by the College.
EDROLO
The College has invested considerable funds to support the use of EDROLO for all students studying Units 3 or 4.
What is Edrolo?
Edrolo is a comprehensive, premium, interactive online video and exam simulation resource for the VCE, providing our students with the best opportunity to perform to their potential throughout the year. We have extensively assessed the resource and are confident it is an extremely valuable investment for our teaching and learning culture.
You can see Edrolo in action by visiting this link: edrolo.com.au/parents/
How do students use Edrolo?
Edrolo is currently used by over 500 schools and 60,000 students. Crafted by outstanding VCE teachers (including exam assessors and textbook authors, some of whom are from our own teaching staff) and built in accordance with VCAA Study Designs, its curriculum-specific and engaging content will provide our students with a differentiated and targeted level of support as they prepare for their most important examinations.
How will our students and teachers use Edrolo?
We will use Edrolo as a tool to further enhance what our teachers are doing day-to-day.
Our teachers are provided with training on how to best utilise the resource, and you should expect them to guide students to make full use of Edrolo in a range of ways across the year, including:
- holiday homework;
- pre-class work;
- post-class consolidation;
- assessment preparation; and
- exam revision.
Please encourage your sons and daughters to fully utilise the variety of opportunities that the College provides. If you have further questions regards EDROLO or any other matters, please do not hesitate to contact me at the College
