Tech Taster - 7H

Sustainability

Our houses are coming along nicely, the students from 7H are working on their chosen sustainable items to build, using recycled items brought in from home.  Looking good guys!

Future Enterprises

Tuesday is my favourite day because I am able to work with Mrs Corben and her wonderful Year 10 students who are taking the Future Enterprisers class.

I have watched them work on their Designing a Garden project and have been able to be inspired by their business skills using website thefounder.biz These students are learning in real time how to run a business and manage staff wages and workloads.

LEGO!

Tuesday lunchtimes in STEAMWORKS.  So much Lego!  So much collaboration! So much TEAMWORK!

Bebras Australia Computational Thinking Challenge

Think you are smarter than the average bear?  Then enrol in a FREE competition that tests your problem solving abilities. Students all over the world participate in the BEBRAS challenge.

The goal of the Bebras Challenge is to promote computational thinking skills in a way that highlights student abilities.

  • The challenge is made up of 15 questions ranging in difficulty.
  • Students in Years 7 to 12 have 45 minutes to complete the challenge.
  • The challenge is open twice a year for two weeks.
  • Students complete the challenge in one sitting at anytime within the two weeks.
  • Teachers can download student results after the challenge closes.
  • Certificates of participation are automatically generated for teachers to download.
  • In the first challenge of the year, students who receive full marks are placed on the Honour Roll and are sent a special certificate from CSIRO.
  • After the challenge has closed, students can log in to view their results, re-attempt questions and receive immediate feedback on their answers.

Any students wishing to take part in this awesome opportunity, can download the consent form and have it signed by a  parent/guardian and return the form to Ms Colyer in Staffroom 1 to be signed up!

Good luck Geeks!
