FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Response to the Coronavirus Situation

Earlier today, I sent an email to all of our families regarding the department response to the Coronavirus.  The email is repeated below.

Thank you to everyone who has responded, I will endeavour to update you with information from the department regarding developments and any upcoming events that may be impacted.

Email sent Monday March 16:

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you are aware health authorities across the nation and globally are continuing to respond to the emergence of COVID -19. Lilydale High School will always follow the advice of the Department of Education and the health authorities in these circumstances. Please be assured that the health and wellbeing of our students and staff is of paramount importance, these measures have been put in place are to ensure their continued wellbeing.

The latest information from the department:

Camps and Excursions

All camps and excursions due to begin on or after Tuesday March 17, will be postponed or cancelled. Although there is currently no timeline on this we will be cancelling/postponing any camps, excursions and sporting activities outside of school that were due to take place for the remainder of Term 1.

Everyone arriving into Australia from overseas from midnight on the 15th of March, will be required to self-isolate for 14 days. This obviously includes students and staff who may be returning from overseas excursions or other travel.

Importantly, it also includes parents and carers and any other relatives or friends of students who are returning from overseas travel.  As they are required to self-isolate, they must not visit the school to pick up children or for any other reason.

School Closures

No government school is currently closed or in the process of being closed, if this situation changes, I will inform you directly and provide you with advice regarding the continuity of learning for our students.

Good hygiene practices

We are encouraging all staff and students to pay extra attention to good hygiene practices. We are monitoring the provision of soap in toilets, change rooms and bathrooms.

Thank you for helping us to keep LHS functioning at our normal level, we will be maintaining a calm, reassured and informed approach.

Kind regards,

Business Management – Market Day

Congratulations to our Year 11 students and their teachers on a fantastic Market Day last Friday. There was a great atmosphere, as students from all year levels bought the wares that were on sale.

The project in its entirety requires students to organise a business from start to finish including; planning, creating a business plan, sourcing ingredients, sponsorship, themes and executing it on the day.

The total raised was $3141 which will be donated to charity. A wonderful effort!

Thanks to students, teachers Ms Mays, Mr Blaxland and others who kindly assisted and to the Food Technicians for their valuable assistance.
