Careers Report

I hope you are managing your remote learning, keeping a record of all the new technologies you are mastering and skills you are developing. Remember to keep a record and add them to your CAP and Resume/CV

I also hope you are managing to be creative and thoughtful to manage the social distancing.

I will be communicating over this time via compass and keeping the https://scoresbysccareers.com up to date with any information and suggestions of activities that students can get involved in over the break and beyond.

I have included some clear instructions how to create a scoresby careers website account and how to access some of the activities in the attachment below.

I encourage students in all year levels to visit the site and create an account, there are instructions in the attachment about how to re set your password if you have forgotten it.   Have a look around complete some of the quizzes and investigate…………… Please remember to record any questions that come up and email me. I will do my best to answer or will do some research if I don’t know the answer, creating activities for us both during this remote learning time.

I have emailed all Year 10 students, parents and carers confirming that Work Experience has been postponed for the scheduled June 22 – 26 date. An alternate week November 30 – December 4 is now what I encourage students to work towards.

I encourage all students to explore future career options, especially our senior student’s year 11 & 12 to do similar activities, to see what will give you that motivation to reach your goals. Investigate the pathways and email me and I can check your research and suggest some options, there is always more than one way of achieving your pathway goal.

A good activity to do if you think you have no idea about your future pathway or even if you are sure, go to https://scoresbysccareers.com/?page=future-jobs  take the quiz and then explore the jobs of the future.

Part of the journey to getting ideas of what the future opportunities are is student’s initiating the investigation, making contact, following up and persisting.  Parents and Carers encourage and assist your child to investigate do not do it for them, sometimes the getting there and the hurdles are the most valuable experience.

At this time there are usually Careers Expos and University Open day information, a lot of these activities are now on line, in the format of virtual tours or chunks of information with an opportunity to chat with a representative from the organisation.  As these come to me, I will add them to compass and the careers website.  These are accessible  and I encourage all year levels to check them out.

Please contact me careers@scoresbysc.vic.edu.au if you have any questions, over this time I will be always checking email and it is always god to keep in touch.
