Bring Your Own Device

It is not expected that your child will bring their own device to school (BYOD) but it is extremely welcome in Fisher during 2015.

Your child will be able to access iPads, laptops and 4 iMacs as well as other digital devices like cameras and robots which belong in Fisher. However, if you ask several of the learners who brought their own device during 2014, they will speak positively about being able to use it to support their learning in class and also continue working on projects at home.

Some points to remember...

Devices must be fully charged

Learners must inform staff that their device is in the classroom - not left in bags!

Devices can only be used in class time (no use before/after school or during recess/lunch)

iPads, iPods, Switch 10 (available from School PORTAL), older laptops and other internet devices are welcome - we will support learners to access our wireless network

Technology must be used for supporting learning - not just playing on apps (although many apps have much educational value to offer

Devices may be taken from children, if staff believe that they are a hindrance to learning. They will be returned at the end of the day and staff will follow up with parents.

Acceptable Use Policy

Please check out your child's diary for a copy of the AUP which will need to be signed before staff can allow access to school or personally owned devices in Fisher.

There are four main points on our AUP in 2015.

  • keep yourself and others safe online
  • respect others in all digital communication and use of others work
  • show care for equipment and report maintenance issues.
  • keep on task - support our learning intentions
