What was the one thing I most vividly remember about NUSHS? It is hands down the exclusive NUSHS iced milo, made to perfection. I was given the great opportunity to experience a week of school life in one of Singapore's leading schools more than 4000km from home with fellow schoolmates and a great bunch of buddies from NUSHS. With the great effort put in by our buddies and teachers, all of us from JMSS were able to experience an incredible trip to Singapore, one which we would never forget.
From experiencing my first ever roller coaster ride, to marvelling at the spectacular view of Singapore from one of the largest ferris wheels in the world, to eating the famous roti prata, dim sum, chilli crab and mi rebus (just to name a few), to almost walking for 8 hours were just some of the many things I did over the weekend. Imagine how much more was packed into our fun-filled 8-day stay in Singapore. Making it even better was having shared this experience with like-minded peers from NUSHS, who not only shared my passion for learning but who were also a bunch of kids packed with fun, laughter, more fun and a teeny weeny bit of craziness...just a little bit.
Visiting various local museums, culturally rich areas and beautiful tourist attractions gave me great insight into the history of Singapore and how the hard work and the unity of Singaporeans, made Singapore the developed and flourishing multicultural nation that it is today. The local science centres also taught us many things through various interactive means and the local attractions such as the Gardens By the Bay, Chinatown and the Night Safari were definitely a sight to see. Learning some Tai Chi and having a go at calligraphy, taught by some NUSHS teachers themselves was just as fun as the room was always filled with laughter.
We truly enjoyed the warmth of everyone in Singapore and over the course of our stay made great friendships which we hold dear to our hearts. We cannot wait for our buddies to come over because it will be yet another action-packed week. But remember to brace yourselves for the cold!
