I write this after two very busy Parent-Teacher-Student conferences held over the last fortnight.

It was great to see so many students and parents sit with teachers to discuss learning progress to this point of the year. Students should follow up any and all suggestions made about how to improve performance in terms of work habits and the application of key knowledge and skills. This may involve follow up work over the holidays and the creation of revision folders particularly at Year 11 and 12 levels. This type of activity is great preparation for second term which has many assessments in all year levels scheduled in mid-term and an exam period in week 9 of Term 2.

Reef and Rainforest Trip 2017 Information Night

Our fourth expedition to the Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest and the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland is only a term away.

There is a compulsory information night for all students at their parents on Wednesday 26th April at 6.30pm at JMSS. This information night will cover aspects of the itinerary, items to bring and any other preparation required. Mr Mann will be sending an email with all details about this information night in the very near future.

Term 2

The start of term 2 will be a busy time for many students. JMSS Athletics Sports is scheduled for the first day back in week 1, and there are many camps such as Generations in Jazz, Music Camp and Dynamic Earth early on in the term. We are welcoming our Regional Exchange students who are with us for 3 weeks, and our exchange students from MWITS in Thailand  for a week early to mid term 2.

A quick reminder for our current Year 10s that they need to really get moving find their work experience placement for the last week of Term 2. Any enquiries can be directed to Kirstine Carter our Pathways Manager at school.

I will be on Long Service Leave at the start of Term 2 and in the interim Mark McTier will be stepping into my role.
