Term 3, Week 10 Newsletter
As we arrive at the end of our very busy term 3, I would like to acknowledge the progress that all students have made during the term. Staff, students and parents have put in a considerable amount of effort to ensure learning goals have been achieved. Students have been provided with many quality learning opportunities as part of their classroom learning programs and have enjoyed Book Week celebrations, class excursions, debating, gymnastics, Wakakiri, Life Education sessions, Enterprise Education and no doubt tomorrow's Sports Day will be a great success.
I was very pleased to announce at today's assembly the winners of both the Kiwani Award and also the School Spirit Awards. Well done to the following students,
Kiwani Awards:
Aaanlise Harous
Ethan Ambagtsheer
School Spirit Award:
Olivia Hickman
Thank you to all parents and community members that have volunteered their time this term to support the many school activities that have been successfully implemented.
To support our school improvement cycle, we will have a Pupil Free Day on Monday week 4, November 6th. On this day staff will be reviewing our Improvement priorities and strategies to determine if our targets have been achieved. This will involve looking closely at our student achievement and other data sets to determine our teaching priorities and strategies for improvement in 2018. Early next term we will be asking students and parents to complete the annual perception surveys to support the review and forward planning process.
Thank you to the many parents who made the most of the opportunity to attend the Adelaide Crows Open Training session this morning at the Adelaide Oval. This was a great chance for our school community to share in the excitement of the build-up to this weekend's AFL Grand Final. I know many children (and parents) thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Thank you also for everyone's understanding towards the postponement of Sports Day. The decision was taken to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. Sports Day will now be held on Friday with school finishing at 2:20pm, as it is also the final day of term. Thankfully the weather at this stage looks much more positive so we look forward to seeing as many parents as possible attending the day. parents are reminded to please ensure that children wear a hat and sunscreen.
I am please to announce two very exciting pieces of staffing news. Firstly Tina Nesbitt has won an Assistant Principal position at Woodville Gardens Primary School commencing in 2018. Tina has been a wonderful addition to our staff over the last 4 years and we all wish her the very best of luck in her new and exciting position.
I am also thrilled to announce that Jenna Smith has won a permanent teaching position here at West Beach Primary School which is absolutely wonderful news for our school. Congratulations to both of these terrific teachers.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support while I have been in the principal role over the last 5 weeks. I would especially like to thank Matt Mulree for his support as he has assisted in the deputy principal role.
Katrina Sexton will return to the principal role from the start of term 4. I will be on long service leave until November 1st during which time Matt Mulree will continue in the deputy principal role.
I trust that everyone will have a safe and enjoyable school holidays and I look forward to seeing you all again next term.
Finally... GO CROWS!!!
