TEACHING & LEARNING

  • Children go to school happily every morning - they are engaged
  • Choice of teachers and their vitality seems particularly beneficial for children

  • Very happy with the SMART spelling program

COMMUNICATION

  • Valuable Learning Task feedback which is greatly appreciated - great to be able to view oral presentation on Compass
  • Exemplary communication between teachers/parents - always available and open
  • When teachers are contacted by parents they are excellent at explaining in more detail and giving context to questions or issues that are raised
  • Parent-Teacher Interviews are great. so organised and thorough - very clear that teacher's know children intimately
  • Great communication and lead time via Compass - as a working parent it's easy to keep abreast of what's taking place at school
  • Very responsive when further details or information in relation to issues or questions are raised.
  • Parents are supported with comms as required

How parents think we can improve...

FACILITIES/SCHOOL GROUNDS/RULES

  • Stricter controls regarding students bringing toys/objects and cane sugar lollies
  • Stricter controls for Kiss N Go zone
  • 40kmph flashing sign for Reserve Road
  • Need more things to keep Prep students occupied in the playground or more Lunch Programs
  • Lots of incidences of sand being thrown in eyes with new sandpit

TEACHING & LEARNING

  • It would be great to see that manners are enforced by the school
  • More opportunities for students to voice an idea that may benefit others
  • Support parents to help with teaching new strategies at home
  • Support parents to understand the learning styles of their own kids
  • Support students to become leaders
  • More 'doing' time and less instruction for Specialist subjects
  • Large class sizes and open classroom design are not particularly beneficial
  • More of the basics - reading, writing and maths!

COMMUNICATION

  • Teacher feedback on how kids collaborate, problem solve and get along with each other
  • Provide information on what students are learning/focusing on each week
  • Would be good to have weekly spelling words on Compass every Monday
  • Online Learning Task feedback forms rather than paper forms
  • More communication and details to be given about Learning Tasks and assessment to understand the expected level/score
  • More individual Learning Task feedback from Specialists
  • Include personalised comments on Student Reports to provide parents with an understanding on how their child is travelling socially, emotionally and behaviourally, what their strengths are, how they can improve and recognise other achievements and extra-curricular activities
  • Another Parent-Teacher Interview towards the end of the year
  • More Parent-Teacher Interview time slots for working parents
  • Communicate lock down events/incidents
  • Return emails and phone calls
  • Provide more warning for dress-up days
  • Provide key notes on how various events are run to make new parents feel more comfortable
  • Advise parents when their child has bumped/banged their head

VOLUNTEERS

  • Revisit the volunteer sign up process for Canteen

EVENTS

  • Spread events over different days
  • Too many special events to keep up with
  • Consider those who may not have grandparents/special friends to attend events
