Our Year 6 students enjoyed rock climbing at the recent Father/Son Camp

Primary School News

As the weather is warming up, can you please ensure that your son has his hat for when he goes outside at recess and lunch. Blackfriars Priory School is a SunSmart school, and we required that all students and teachers wear a hat in Terms 1, 3 and 4.  If your son forgets his hat he will be asked to sit under the shade of the primary veranda.

The class structure for the Primary Classes in 2018 is:

Reception

Reception/Year 1

Year 1

Year 2

Year 3

Year 4

Year 5

Year 5/Year 6

Year 6

We are still finalising which teachers will be taking which year level, this will be finalised before the Primary Orientation Day on Friday 1 December 2017.

On Thursday 16 November, the Year 6 students attended the ACHPER Health and Physical Education “Come and Try Expo” at Park 25 in the city as part of PE Week. Despite the poor weather and the rain, the boys all had a good day trying different activities. A big thank you to Mr Cheary for organising this and to teachers Mr Niedzwiecki, Mr Vo and Mr Brealey. A special thank you to Mrs Virginia Zajaczkowski for volunteering her time to assist throughout the day.

From Friday 17 to Sunday 19 November, the Year 6 boys, their dads and the Year 6 teachers attended the annual Father Son Camp. Everyone made their own way to El Shaddai Campsite at Wellington. This is a very popular annual event and the boys look forward to it all year, and so do the dads (and mums).  While they were there they all participated in different activities such as rock climbing and archery. Congratulation to Mr Henry Vo and Mr John Niedzwiecki on organising a fantastic camp.

On Wednesday 22 November, all students participated in Intra-House games during our Pastoral Care lesson. The teachers and Year 6 students coordinated these games and all the points won will go towards the House Spirit award that will be presented during the Primary Awards Evening.

As the year ends, I would like to thank all the parents who have given up their time to help on excursions, listening to reading, helping students in the classroom, helping teachers in the classroom, coming to assemblies and Masses, sports and swimming carnivals and many other events. Your support is greatly appreciated by the staff and students.
