Australian Mathematics Competition

It's almost that time of year again. The Australian Mathematics Competition is an internationally recognised competition where students can show off their mathematical and problem solving skills. Last year we had 99 students participate, so let's go for over 100 this year. It's a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves, so if they haven't done so already, any interested students should speak to their maths teachers. The competition will run on Thursday morning, August 1st at school. There is a cost of $6.50 payable at he office or on Compass.

Would you like to host a Japanese Student

Copperfield College is very fortunate to have a Sister School relationship with Fuji Junior High School, in Fuji City, Japan. This relationship fosters cultural understanding and friendship between the young people of Japan and Australia. For the past twenty years, our schools have taken turns to send a group of students and staff to each other’s school.

In 2019, we expect approximately fifteen students and three teachers to come to Australia and Copperfield College for 6 days, staying overnight in a homestay arrangement for 5 nights from Thursday August 15 to Tuesday August 20.

During this time each Japanese student stays in an Australian home with one of our students, attending classes at Copperfield College and experiencing life in Australia. It is also a wonderful experience for our students and their families to welcome a Japanese student into their home and treat them as family members. Copperfield College students have made many friends with students and their families from our Sister School, developing a better understanding and appreciation of lifestyles and cultures.

In 2020, our Sister School relationship will continue with our students visiting Japan. Priority will be given to those students who host a Japanese student this year.

If you would like to host a Japanese student between Thursday August 15 and Tuesday August 20, collect a form from the Campus Office and return it with a parent/carer signature to your Campus Office or a Campus Principal by Friday, May 10.

Please talk to one of Campus Principals listed below or one of our Japanese teachers if you have a query. Further details will follow once tour details are finalised.

Ms Mullins (Delahey), Ms Chiodo (Kings Park) or Mr Nugent (Sydenham).
