SEAL Mentoring Project

The Year 7 and Year 10 SEAL students are currently working together on a special project called the ‘United Nations Assembly’.

Students have been working in small groups, with the Year 10 students mentoring the Year 7 students, to research and develop compelling arguments in support of their chosen country to present to an assembly of judges. Students must build a knowledge and understanding of the political, environmental and humanitarian issues facing their country. They will then investigate and suggest solutions and resources that could assist and aid their country in combatting their concerns.

The most compelling presentations made to the mock United Nations Assembly will receive aid for their country (and be deemed the winners!).

Keep an eye out in further issues of the newsletter to see the results of the project.

Geography Cake Competition

As part of the Doncaster Secondary College Open Night on Tuesday, 24 April Year 7, 8 and 9 students were invited to enter the Annual Geography Cake Competition. Gary Rule, Belinda McGee, Elisha Sadikay and Sally Miller were our judges for the evening, marking students on effort, creativity and the amount of self-control it took them not to devour the cake on the spot.

The competition is a great way to demonstrate knowledge and appreciation for Geography, as well as show pride in our school and creativity to the wider community.
