PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

School Partnerships
Currently there are forty one schools in the North East Victoria Region involved in School Partnerships. Doncaster Secondary College was approached by the Department of Education to consider partnering with a school in 2018 and on acceptance we were allocated Rowville Secondary College as our partner. We have affectionately branded our partnership ‘DRIP’ (Doncaster SC and Rowville SC Improvement Partnership).
The partnership was launched at the ‘Doncaster Styling Suite’ with school leaders (staff and students) from both our schools meeting for the first time. Representatives from the Department of Education including Senior Education and Improvement Leaders (SEILs) Justin Butler and Mark Flack also attended. All who were present were glowing in their feedback on the positive way in which our student leaders were able to represent themselves and the students of our schools. The work that we will collaborate on over the course of the year focusses on student voice and agency and the benefits of providing staff with specific feedback from students to improve teacher practice.
One of the activities that groups of student and staff leaders were asked to work on was to develop a visionary headline for this exciting partnership – ‘DRIP turns into a Tsunami’ being one inspiring example! We all are very excited about the positives that will no doubt be an outcome of our collaborations.
