Candidate: Sophie Dyt

Thank you for taking the time to read my support statement for School Council Student Nominee. Doncaster Secondary College is a wonderful school offering many opportunities. I am standing for election as I enjoy working with people, listening to student’s ideas and being part of a team where you can bring positive change.

Involvement within the school community is very important to me. The opportunities given to me such as: volunteering at open nights, school production, Leadership Day, SRC, Teach the Teacher, Peer Leader, Science Talent Search, Year 9 Middle School Captain and member of the Interact Club are all opportunities I value.

I was fortunate to receive The Kiwanis Club of Manningham Citizenship Award 2017 and DSC Service Award an I would like to continue to contribute to my school and community. I am coaching Under 11’s at my netball club and play with the Under 17’s.

Candidate: Teegan Gayewski

I have applied to be a student member of the School Council because I want to be an advocate for the student population. I want to be an agent for positive change and bring the issues forward that are current and relevant to the community that is Doncaster Secondary College.

I am involved in the Doncaster Secondary College Connect Student Wellbeing Team. I volunteer within the art department to help with promoting the arts program through things such as open night, art exhibitions and student art activities at college events. I am a leader of a children’s program at my local church, engaging within the community and getting to know the people who reside within it.

Candidate: Ainsley Chase

I am currently the vice President of the Interact Club and I have been involved in countless school clubs and organisations. This year I have proxied on the school council and I would love to become a member of it. I want to give a voice to the student body and be an approachable figure for students to come and raise suggestions for improving the school or their concerns.

Throughout my time at DSC, I have received many awards including a merit. I was in the LEEP program from year 7 and I am currently studying two year 12 subjects in year 11. I went to the Royal Women’s Hospital for work experience and it was one of the best weeks of my life. I love science and I play the cello (in the school orchestra). I volunteer at my calisthenics club to coach as well as compete.
