Being Aware of Your Self-Esteem
Some worthy advice I am sure we have all been given at some stage in life is to put the needs of others before ourselves. In fact, if friends or family were feeling a little off, most of us would do nearly anything to try and ensure their condition improved. Therefore, why are many of us guilty of not doing the same for ourselves? The simple message here is that we are just as important as everyone else, so prioritising our own wellbeing is perfectly okay and vital for healthy development.
Have you been feeling a little off for a while? Or maybe just feel a little down from where you want to be? This is okay because you are not alone. How we feel about ourselves is often linked to self-esteem which is prone to rapid fluctuations throughout adolescence. Your self-esteem is important to keep an eye on as it is a key component in life which not only dictates how we value ourselves, but also influences the choices and decisions that we make. The causes of low self-esteem are diverse and can present itself in many forms including a loss of confidence, self-criticism, negative thoughts or the need for perfectionism.
