Principal News

Principal's Day

What a pleasure it is to be the Principals of CSPS.  We were very spoilt last Friday 2nd August where we received delightful handmade gifts from the students, joyous cuddles and congratulatory handshakes.

Everyday is a honour to lead our amazing school.

Thank you for making us feel extra special.

Uniform Blitz

Can all families please support the school in ensuring their children are in full school uniform.  Example of areas that need attention are:

  • navy blue not black (especially trousers, leggings, shorts etc...)
  • hoodies with brand names
  • length of skirts
  • appropriate footwear
  • type and number of earrings

School Policies highlights

The Policy highlighted for this iNewsletter is the Uniform Policy.

The purpose of the Uniform Policy reinforces in students a pride in their own appearance, instils recognition of themselves as an integral part of the school community, and assists in developing pride in representing their school.

Any questions, please contact the office.

Community minded

Letter from a local resident

I am a local resident, and I am writing with growing concerns for the parent parking situation around your school.

It has been getting progressively worse this year, however this afternoon, seeing a four wheel drive reverse park up onto the grass, right next to the roundabout was simply unacceptable.

Every afternoon I drive through the roundabout to get home, there is a back log of cars, blocking any movement, in any direction.

Thank you community member X for your feedback.  I am sure that members of the CSPS family will be more considerate of parking and the manner in which it impacts everyone.

Monique Corcoran

Please note that any adult who parks illegally on the nature strip or not in a parking bay does so at their own risk.  Parking inspectors are known to visit schools where community feedback has been received.

All Psyched up!

We would like to notify families with children currently accessing All Psyched Up (psychologist services) that the health service is currently paused.  All Psyched up is  currently in the process of recruiting another Psychologist to work at CSPS.  This process is well underway and we are hoping that this support will re- commence in the next few weeks.  We will notify families ASAP.

If you have any concerns please contact Mrs. Sally Herbert.

Child Safe Standards

Standard 7: Strategies to promote child participation and empowerment

Keeping children safe while out and about.

All children can be vulnerable sometimes, and as a parent it is only natural to worry about their safety.

If you are worried, you can help to protect your young children and teens with these common-sense tips.

Protecting young children

tell your child to avoid talking to people they don't know when you're not around

make sure your child knows never to walk away with strangers

make sure your child understands that they should always tell you if a stranger approaches, and never to keep this secret

if your child is travelling alone, tell them to sit near other families on the train or bus

if your child has to use a lift – tell them only to use lifts with friends, and not to feel worried about getting out if they are uncomfortable about someone else being in there

if your child gets lost, they should ask for help from a police officer, another grown-up with children or someone working at a nearby shop

have your children learn their address and telephone number by heart

School incidents

At times, schools experience incidents that require reporting to DET for support and follow up.  We are required to report incidents to DET that:

  • impact the health, safety and wellbeing of students and staff
  • impact the continuity of school operations (including property damage and emergencies)
  • involve matters of serious student conduct.

Schools can also report incidents related to unauthorised access to sensitive information, which will activate the right support to mitigate the risk to the school.

Incidents that have an insignificant impact do not need to be reported.

Incident severity rating

The severity of an incident determines how quickly it should be reported, levels of support required and whether the incident is governed by the school, the Area Executive Director or the Director Security and Emergency Management Division.

  • extreme – report immediately (within one hour)
  • high – report as soon as possible (within three hours)
  • medium – report as soon as possible (within one working day)
  • low – does not need to be reported.

Extreme and high severity rated incidents automatically trigger regional assistance that will support your school to manage the incident.

Communication and follow up is then provided to schools so as to ensure clarity, privacy and support.
