Last week it was great to see and meet so many Prep families at the 2019 Prep Family Welcome BBQ. We hope those who attended had a lovely evening. A big thanks goes out to Teresa Prismall for organising this on behalf of the school and P&F and the following volunteers who spared their time on a Monday evening to cook and serve the sausages: Sharon Hobson, Cindy Taylor, Mark Petterson, Allie Loos, Sharon Frisina and Marisa Te.
Last week also saw the first P&F meeting of the year was held. Thank you to those who attended. At this meeting numerous topics were discussed. The minutes for this meeting can be found on the QOP website under P&F. I encourage you all to check these out. However, below is a brief summary of some of the outcomes of the meeting:
Term 2 - Monday 6th May
Term 3 - Monday 29th July
Term 4 - Monday 18th November (inclusive of the AGM)
Our meeting in term 2 (6th May) will incorporate a Question and Answer session with our Principal, Darren Gibbons, Ms Belinda Bartolo (Family Engagement Officer) and myself. The first 30 minutes of this meeting will be focused on addressing any questions you may have regarding school policies, learning objectives, the building renovations and P&F matters. We hope many will put this date in their diary to be able to attend. Watch this space and CareMonkey for further details of this meeting.
2. The Fundraising and Social calendars will be published by mid March. We recognise that the success of these events is dependent on your kind contributions of time, support and enthusiasm and are grateful for this. This year, when the calendars are published, we will we also welcome anyone wanting to volunteer their time to organise one of the events. To help make it easier for those who are keen to get involved this way but are unsure on how to, P&F will be holding a “How to Organise an Event” session later this term. Notification will go out on CareMonkey.
3. In keeping with the Child Safety Standards, it was agreed that all volunteers at any P&F event will need to carry their Working with Children Card with them when on school premises. We appreciate your cooperation with this change.
4. We are still looking for a Pastoral Coordinator for 2019. If you are interested in filling this role or have any questions regarding this role please email pandf@qopaltonameadows.catholic.edu.au
Save the Date: Our first fundraising event for the year, Hot Cross Bun Day, will coincide with children’s Walk to 100 Steps on Friday 5th April. Notes for hot cross bun orders and a call out for volunteers to help sort the buns prior to the walk will go out mid March.
I hope everyone has well and truly settled back into routine and the summer holidays are still not too distant a memory.
Regards,
Rebecca Whelan
P&F President
