Dear Parents/Carers

Last Sunday 19th June 2022 we celebrated the Feast of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel reading was taken from Luke 9:11 - 17.

Jesus made the crowds welcome and talked to them about the kingdom of God; and he cured those who were in need of healing.

It was late afternoon when the Twelve came to him and said, ‘Send the people away, and they can go to the villages and farms roundabout to find lodging and food; for we are in a lonely place here.’ He replied, ‘Give them something to eat yourselves.’ But they said, ‘We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we are to go ourselves and buy food for all these people.’ For there were about five thousand men. But he said to his disciples, ‘Get them to sit down in parties of about fifty.’ They did so and made them all sit down. Then he took the five loaves and the two fish, raised his eyes to heaven, and said the blessing over them; then he broke them and handed them to his disciples to distribute among the crowd. They all ate as much as they wanted, and when the scraps remaining were collected they filled twelve baskets.

A Reflection on the Gospel: Lisa-Marie Calderone- Stewart

An ancient African custom teaches that if a person feeds you, teaches you or helps you in any way, then you are to speak highly of that person. Your words of praise keep alive the spirit of that person’s goodness, so that it can continue to flow. Criticising teachers, parents or coaches we dislike or disagree with is an easy practice to fall into. But they are usually the ones who care the most about us and who are trying to help us become better people.

What are some good things you can say about your parents, teachers or coaches?

What are some good things your parents, teachers or coaches could say about you?

When Jesus had his last meal with his closest friends, he asked them to remember him when sharing this special meal together.

When you are at Eucharist, eating that special meal of Jesus’ body and blood, how do you remember Jesus? What do you think about? Is your mind on Jesus, or are your thoughts usually floating somewhere else?

Parents and Carers come and join us for the Special Liturgy celebrating the Feast of the Sacred Heart at 10:15 am tomorrow, before the School Assembly.

Hello my name is Tammy, my name is Milica and I’m Daniel and we are your Faith and Social Justice Leaders.

Tomorrow 24th June is the Feast of The Sacred Heart of Jesus and we are celebrating by bringing some gold coins to donate to St Vincent de Paul. Students will also be able to wear casual clothes.

St Vincent de Paul was born on the 24th of April 1581 in Southeastern France. He grew up in a poor family but was able to get a good education. He was a tutor to children and began Divinity studies in 1596 at the University of Toulouse. He became a priest at the age of 20. After being captured and released in 1607 by Turkish pirates and sold into slavery, he returned to France and was a parish priest in Paris. There he started organisations to help the poor, nurse the sick, and find  jobs for the unemployed. He devoted all his life to this cause. He died on the 27th of September 1660, 79 years old in  Paris.

Your contribution tomorrow will help many families in need. Please help us by DONATING some gold coins for this worthwhile cause tomorrow.

Thank you
