Parents & Friends News

Dear all,
Last Thursday P&F hosted our first Disco in few years. It was a great success! There was plenty of dancing and singing and the energy run high. We think the kids enjoyed the music, pizza and face painting.
There is a lot of work that goes into organizing even the smallest of events so I’d like to thank Rian, Lynn and Louisa for working tirelessly alongside myself to make this event happen. Also a big thank you to the volunteers on the night: Amy, Claudette, Di, Hannah, Heinz and Joyce. And a special thanks goes to the amazing face painting duo Rose and Michelle. You guys made everyone look incredible and we are forever grateful for your generous donation. It made the event even more special. Last but not least a massive thank you to our teachers and staff, who helped organize and run the event: Cathy and Anthony along with Ms Paula, Mrs Le Hunt, Ms Borgese and Mr McGuinness. Without you guys no event could happen and we know that it was a long day of work for you. I also think Carlisle Pizza deserves a shout for always providing delicious pizza at a great price.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Rian, who stepped down from her role in P&F. The work she has done for the school is incredible and I’ll miss bouncing off ideas for the events and always being able to count on her making all the admin things happen. Rian has done a lot of work behind the scenes of the school for the benefit of the community.
PROM GONE WRONG
The next event will be our Major Fundraiser.
Date: 30/07/2022
Time: 7pm-11.30pm
Place: Parish Hall
Book: https://www.trybooking.com/CAPUL
The theme is PROM GONE WRONG so please transform yourself and head back to the 80’s! We will be having best dressed so go big (just like the hair and the clothes) and you might win a prize.
The funds raised on the night will go towards technology resources and upgrading classroom facilities. To make the fundraiser a success we are seeking donations of products, services and vouchers for the silent auction and raffles. We are hoping school families can help with this.
How can you help?
Are you in a position to donate something from your own business or perhaps via your employer? Are you a regular customer at a local business that you feel comfortable asking for a donation? (i.e your favourite hairdresser, beauty salon, café, wine shop, etc). Any donation will be gratefully received.
Does your child attend an after-school program that you might feel comfortable asking for a donation? (i.e. tennis, taekwondo, dance, music classes, etc), ideas could include a few free lessons, a free term, birthday parties, etc
To start: We are initially gathering names of possible donors and who has the contacts, to ensure we avoid multiple requests of the same company. If you can assist please advise name of possible donor company and whether you are in a position to make the request (you will be supported with an STM letter for the donation request), as soon as possible. Once we have this information, we will coordinate an effort and get back to those who can possibly assist at the beginning of Term 3. We also want to think bigger than local, so if you have contacts at larger companies such as any of these places, we’d love to get in contact:
Australian Grand Prix
iFly
Urbnsurf
NGV
Red Balloon etc.
If you think you can assist us, please let your Class Rep know asap.
Importantly, all businesses who donate will be promoted on the night of the event and acknowledged in the school newsletter.
All donations, big or small, will go a long way to supporting St Mary’s make valuable improvements for our kids.
Thank you!
Kasia on behalf of P&F and SWEG
