Stage 4
Class 14 have been using lots of different materials to help with their learning including Lego, base 10 blocks, playing cards as well as pen and paper work. They loved their class outing last week where they visited Mullion Produce where they looked at all the different animals!
Class 15 have made a good start to Term 3. Some of the learning we'll be covering this term will include analysing poetry, investigating the ancient past and exploring modern Aboriginal art. Class 15 have already begun working to create a class budget for our cooking classes and we look forward to opportunities to introduce healthier ingredients into familiar and favourite meals. During play times and brain breaks, students have also been enjoying the new playground equipment and gym equipment! With the colder weather having it's impact, students are showing good resilience for the day-to-day changes and we're always excited and grateful whenever our whole class is at school.
Class 16 enjoyed some fantastic hands on learning building bridges during Mandatory Technology. Tabby had two celebrations this last week as she enjoyed a class birthday party as well as a farewell party. We wish her all the best at her new school and will miss her smiley face, fun games and conversations.

It has been a busy and productive start to term 3 in stage 5. Our students have started their new Design and Technology subjects as part of their Curiosity Clubs. The year 10 group has been working on making a giant Jenga game. With the help of Mr Dederer, they have practiced skills and safety in using power tools such as Jigsaws, drill and power sanders.
This week we welcomed back Ms Brennan to the Skills House. Class 6 have been visiting working on skills in the Home Zone such as folding and sorting laundry.
Stage 5 students were involved in Schools Tree Day- Australia’s largest community tree and nature care event. We took the opportunity to replant some trees in our Bush Tucker Garden.

Stage 6
While Mrs Hodder is enjoying a trip of a lifetime with her family to Cape York, I am lucky to be working as the Stage Leader. I have been in contact with Mrs Hodder to hear about their adventures and she sent through a picture and an update.
"We have explored National Parks and Indigenous Lands with permission from traditional land owners, swimming holes, bush walks, the old Telegraph Track, huge cattle stations and the Great Barrier Reef. We have seen fresh and saltwater crocodiles, cassowaries, goannas, pythons and green sea turtles. This is us at the tip of Cape York"
Stage 6 have settled back into the routine of Term 3 very well. Students got to meet and pat some friendly visitors to the farm. When they returned to class, staff and students collaborated to write a recount of their time at the farm.
Students in Work Studies have been focusing on work-ready skills and have recently participated in a mock interview. Students presented themselves very professionally, dressed in full school uniform. During the interview, students practiced maintaining eye contact and demonstrating positive body language. They answered questions about their strengths and interests and why they would be the best candidate for a job. Well done to all students involved.

Class 18 have started term 3 with a great deal of energy and enthusiasm for their learning. They are enjoying a great novel "Hatchet" by Gary Paulsen about a young boy's survival in the Canadian wilderness. The novel has captured their interest and they have been learning about many different survival skills including mapping, measuring, making a suitable shelter, keeping safe and using ingenuity to solve problems. They have also enjoyed trying their hand at catching their own food!
We look forward to seeing more great things from Class 18.
