Staff Development Day

On Monday 18th July most staff met for the term 3 Professional Development Day.

Cathy Huggett led a spotlight on art where staff produced cards to be featured at Art on Anson. This gave teachers the opportunity to practice ways in which the students could replicate the skills in the classroom.

Staff explored indoor and outdoor games and activities as an alternative to screen time and these too will be introduced into the classroom and break times.

Pam Ryan (school patron) was the guest speaker for the day. Pam is internationally recognised for her contribution to education. Pam work-shopped new 'Ways of Thinking, Being and Seeing' at Anson Street School. We discussed different systems, responsibilities and solutions and the way in which they impact the school and wider community.

The day concluded with learning about the new BenQ interactive boards which are now integrated into most classrooms.

A huge thank you to Cathy Huggett and Pam Ryan for presenting and to everyone who contributed throughout the day -- it was a great success!

Special Education Principals and Leaders Association (SEPLA) Conference 2022

On the last day of the recent holidays, sixteen of our staff travelled to Sydney to attend SEPLA CON on Monday 18th July, an annual gathering of SSP staff to share knowledge and experiences of all things special education. We listened to amazing and inspiring guest speakers and learned all about our warmth and strength qualities, the importance of positive language and how to help others and be our best selves.

Staff attended workshops to see new ideas and programs in practice at other SSPs around NSW. It was great to meet and network with other like-minded people who are all passionate about doing great things for the students at their schools. The beauty of Darling Harbour was pretty good too!
