From the Principal

Term 3 and we have hit the ground running. This is a term of many activities including the school concert, Art on Anson, Athletics Carnival and Eisteddfod performances. I hope we will see many parents, family members and friends at our events, where we will be showcasing the many talents of our students.

The staff attended two fabulous opportunities on the first day back (see Anson in Review for more details). We welcomed 5 new students at the start of this term and 2 new staff members. More information about our new people can be found in Spotlight On.

With COVID cases still high in NSW, the Department of Education asked us to limit big group activities in the first 4 weeks of this term, so we have pushed Education Week activities back to Week 6 starting with the Official Opening of Art on Anson on 19th August. From Monday 22nd - Friday 26th August, the week is jam-packed with activities as we open our school including:

  • 30-minute school tours to see all the new changes and upgrades each day at 10:15am and 2:15pm
  • morning tea with your child's class to see their class and work in the classroom
  • student disco on Wednesday afternoon finishing with a BBQ sausage sizzle
  • book week parade on Friday
  • Art on Anson exhibition all week in the Trade Training Centre
  • demonstration lessons in the Skills House

This is the Year 12s last term of academic work after 13 years at school. They have been working hard to complete assessment and learning tasks in class. Next term, they will be involved in more community-based activities as we help support them to transition from school.

NAPLAN results will be published soon and copies of the student's results will be sent home. I congratulate the students who tried hard in these tests which helps staff plan teaching activities to help students improve in literacy and numeracy. Thanks to Mr Wong-See who managed the whole process.

Attendance every day is important and teachers have a legal requirement to record students' attendance each day. It is important for parents and carers to provide a reason for a child's absence, so please remember to notify your child's teacher via SeeSaw or call the office, when they are absent.

Enjoy the last weeks of Winter (personally, I can't wait until Spring).
