Reconciliation Week "Be Brave. Make Change!"
Reconciliation Week concluded on Friday with a special breakfast for our aboriginal students and their families. Mrs Dyke shared some photos of her recent trip to Lake Mungo where she learned about the ancient history of the area.
The whole school then took part in a Reconciliation Rally where we wore the aboriginal colours and marched along McLennan St and around the school. It was a wonderful success and the students had a great time chanting and raising awareness for Reconciliation. I hope you saw the great article in last week's Shep News with the fantastic photos of the march.
Our annual Mass for the Poor is taking place this Friday 24th June in the church. Thank you to those families for the donations that we will present to Vinnies for their Winter appeal during the mass.
Congratulations to the children who recently made their First Eucharist. It is a very special time for themselves and their families.
Tonight we have a number of children making their First Reconciliation. We wish them every blessing on this significant night for them all.
Week 7 Jayden Atkinson
Jayden played a very prominent role in the recent Reconciliation Week activities. Jayden is very proud of his aboriginal heritage and is always keen to share his knowledge of indigenous culture. Thank you Jayden for being such an influential student leader.
Week 9 Layne Beks
Layne is a very generous student who enjoys helping others in the classroom. She is ultra organised and shows great resilience when faced with challenges. Layne was also an excellent tour guide at our recent school open day. Congratulations Layne!
