Assistant Principal

Year 7 & 8

Welcome back staff, students, and families. I hope everyone within our community has taken the opportunity over the term break to take the time to switch off from whatever stresses may be present, make time for themselves and their families, and are returning with renewed enthusiasm.

At the start of the term, we were able to celebrate and acknowledge the wonderful efforts of those within the junior school. I had the please of attending both the year 7 and year 8 end of semester assemblies. At the assembly’s students were acknowledged for their participation in school events, their engagement within the curriculum, their leadership around the college, and for academic excellence. There were over 120 awards given out across the two assemblies, within many students receiving multiple recognition. Congratulations once again to all those who received awards!

As we begin a new semester it is important that we reflect upon the efforts of semester 1, and take the opportunity to look for areas in which we can continue to build upon our achievements. I strongly encourage all families, if not already, to sit down with your child and look through their semester 1 report that can be located on compass. Discuss with them their successes and reflect upon areas in which you feel they can improve.

Looking ahead for this semester we have a number of exciting events coming up. On 27th of July we have the inaugural mid-concert. It is a free even that will be held in the drama centre from 6 pm showcasing our students’ talents across a range of instruments and vocals. On Wednesday the 7th of September we have the school production of Moana. Students have been working hard all year on what will be a fantastic event. Please keep an eye out for further information closer to the date.
