Year 9 & 10
I have had the great privilege of attending awards ceremonies for Year 9 and 10 last week. It was with great pride that I saw a range of our students receiving acknowledgement not only for honours and academic performance, but also to be awarded for outstanding attendance, effort, and contribution to our college in the areas of sport, leadership, community and the Arts. Two lucky students also received the Principal’s award. A list of these of these students is below.
Last week Year 10 students undertook work experience. This has been the first time we have been able to run a work experience program in the last 2 years. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit some of our students and it was with great pride that I saw them enjoying their placements and starting to understand the realities of a workplace and how those expectations are different than school. They were exceptional representatives of our college in every instance.
This week we begin our subject selection process with a parent information evening on Tuesday 26th July for current Year 10 students to explore the possible pathways, subject offerings and the process to develop their Year 11 program for 2023. It is incredibly important that parents attend the information evenings if possible, to help guide students in their choices. It is imperative that students give great thought and consideration to this process by reading the Year VCE subject handbook. Students will have a student information assembly and will have a range of tasks to complete prior to our subject selection counselling which will occur on the 1st and 2nd of August.
The Year 9 into 10 2023 Parent Information evening will occur on 28th July. Year 8 stduents will also have an information assembly about this process. Students will have the opportunity to choose their electives for the first time which is very exciting for some students.
