Assistant Principal

Year 11 & 12

This year there will be some changes to the General Achievement Test (GAT) that all VCE and VCAL students will need to sit.  These have occurred as part of the reform of the VCE and VCAL system, Victorian senior secondary students will this year have their literacy and numeracy skills measured against new standards in a reformed General Achievement test. The new standards will indicate whether students have demonstrated the literacy and numeracy skills typically expected of someone completing their secondary schooling – giving another indication of their readiness to move onto further education, training or employment. The 2022 GAT will be held on Wednesday 7 September. The GAT will be split into two sections: Section A will assess literacy and numeracy skills. Section B will assess skills in mathematics, science, technology, the arts and humanities, with an increased focus on critical and creative thinking skills. All students enrolled in one or more VCE or scored VCE VET Unit 3 –4 sequence will be required to sit Sections A and B. Senior VCAL students will sit Section A. Further information will be provided closer to the date.

Semester one reports have been open for both students and Parents to view since last term.  Please take the time to read through these with your teenager. We held the Unit Three Parent and Teacher Conferences last week, although attendance levels at the night were a little disappointing it was lovely to see some parents taking the time to meet with teachers. With less than one term lest of official year 12 course delivery remaining it is important for students to remain focused on completing their School Assessed Tasks to the best of their ability, as well as continuing to keep revising in preparation for the end of year exams.  This week the year 11 students had an assembly session based on confirmation of their year 12 programs Students were guided through the process required to finalise their subjects. Subject selection will take place online with these being due on Tuesday the 9th of August. Log on details will be distributed to students in the coming week.

Please as always, feel free to contact your child’s teachers or the Senior School Team, should you have any concerns with your teenagers learning.

 Best wishes,
