On Wednesday 22nd of June, Ms Ricco’s Year 8 and 9 Greek class as well as Ms Cunto’s Year 8 Italian class had the pleasure of visiting The Hellenic Museum (former Royal Mint Building) in the city.

Students were divided into 4 groups and given a tour on Greek and Roman mythology, art and history. They were immersed, appreciative and thrilled to be given the opportunity to see the artefacts up close.

The following day, I was told by Evelyn Darzanos from the Hellenic Museum that TA NEA – The Greek Australian Newspaper, wanted to include our school in a feature article. I was asked to comment on the exhibition and tour. This article was published on Wednesday 29th of June with a photo of our students. (Please see article below).

This tour has proven to be a really engaging way for students to learn about the topics covered in class and has provided them with a more practical way to visualise what they have been taught and have been assessed on.

All students gave really positive feedback after the excursion and were really enthusiastic about the experience.

Finally, I would like to extend my thanks to the following staff members who accompanied us on the excursion: Ms Cunto, who along with me, has worked tirelessly with students, teaching them Greek and Roman history and culture, Mr Christou and Ms Cujic who volunteered to supervise the students.
