Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club

The best way to start the day is with a healthy breakfast! All students are welcome on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. We have had a successful start to the term, with lots of students taking advantage of all our yummy breakfast options. We have Uncle Toby’s Weeties, Weetbix, a variety of gluten free cereals, as well as milk and fruit options. For the time being we are running a grab & go breakfast near the undercover basketball court to stay in line with our COVID safe protocols, and are hoping to move back inside the food science room in the coming months.

Thank you

We would like to thank Coles and Woolworths Langwarrin for kindly providing us with a voucher to help with purchasing disposable cups, cutlery, and milk options to cater for dairy free students.

Helpers needed!

Thank you to our new volunteers who have started helping out this year. We always need more helpers! Some mornings we feed well over 100 students, and it couldn’t be done without our amazing helpers. Volunteering involves setting up the table, serving cereal in disposable cups, preparing fruit and packing away the breakfast.

Even if you can only help one day a week, or for part of the time we really appreciate it. We are also open to the possibility of running the program on other mornings if we have a minimum of 2 helpers. We do ask however, that helpers wear a mask and are up to date with current vaccination requirements. Please come by on a Tuesday or Wednesday before school, or email Jade (jade.hansted@education.vic.gov.au) for more information.

Cups and spoons

Due to the current COVID-19 regulations we are doing a takeaway breakfast, which means we need a lot of cups and spoons! We look forward to the more sustainable option of using reusable dishes, but unfortunately this isn’t possible at the moment.

If you have any packs of disposable cups or spoons that you’d like to donate to our program (any size or type), please drop them off at the office or to one of our friendly helpers on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning.

Foodbank

We are very lucky to have qualified for the Foodbank breakfast club program. The Victorian Government has continued its partnership with Foodbank Victoria to provide free healthy meals that will help students focus better and participate fully in their education. You can find out more information about this program here: www.foodbank.org.au/VIC/school-breakfast-clubs-in-action/
