Acting Principal's Report

Well what a huge end of term we have had……

Year 6 Camp

We had 82 Year 6 students head off to Log Cabin Camp in Ballarat last week.  Lots of fun was had by all with a day of exploring at Sovereign Hill, as well as heaps of camp activities that built team work, trust and resilience.  Thanks to Mrs Cameron for organising the camp and the Year 6 team of campers for giving up your time to attend this camp.  I also want to thank those parents who emailed and called with their thanks – these little things are hugely appreciated.

Play Leaders

Play Leaders have a very important role at school, which is to ensure the yard is a fun, safe and inclusive space by facilitating games and activities for our junior students. This week our Play Leaders ventured out to visit some of our local early learning centres. Children at Bayport Kindergarten and Langwarrin Park Early Learning and Kindergarten enjoyed a range of games that promoted teamwork, listening, and mindfulness. We look forward to more opportunities to connect with our early learning centres.

Performing Arts Night

On Tuesday evening we celebrated the enormous talents of over 70 students performing at the LPAC for our Performing Arts Night.  It was amazing to see so many students of all ages display such creativity; we had dancing, singing, magic, Rubik’s Cube solving, drumming and aerobics to name just a few.  With over 300 people coming to support our students it was wonderful to have a full house in the LPAC again.  Thanks to Matt Flynn, Julie Cameron, Sharne Quinn, Jaime Humphrey and Danielle Chila for all your extra hours of organisation to ensure this night was a success.

Prep Car Rally

Yesterday morning was full of excitement in the stadium.  The annual Prep car rally was back.  Prep students have had a home learning project to build their race car with their family……and WOW did I see some impressive vehicles.  Our Prep students navigated their car through the car wash, past the Australian animals – being very careful not to hit them!  Students observed the traffic lights and waited patiently whilst the pedestrians crossed the road.  We even had the bullet train and real crossing lights.  My sincere thanks go to the Prep team and Jay for setting up the course early on Wednesday morning.  There are lots of pictures on our school Facebook page if you want to take a look.

Mr Moorhouse will return after the holidays and I will gladly pass the baton back.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our LPS staff for their continued hard work each and every day. To all our families, thanks again for your continued support.  We hope everyone stays safe and well over the holiday break and we will see you all on Monday 11th July for the start of Term 3.
