Principal's report
Mr Shaun McClare
I would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which Kalinda Primary school gathers, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. I would like to pay my respects to their elders past, present, and emerging.
Our inaugural Winter Solstice Festival on Tuesday was a fantastic success. It was so wonderful to see so many families at school, enjoying the lantern walk, Highland dancing, school choir, and the delicious food and hot drinks that were available. We were very lucky that the weather was so nice and I really hope this can become an annual event at Kalinda.
The event was made possible by the huge efforts of the Parents and Friends Association and all the parents and staff members who volunteered to make the event a success. A huge thank you goes to Jo Sahhar. Jo put in a huge amount of effort over the first half of this year to plan and coordinate this great event.
Building connections between our staff, students, and their families is something we are really committed to at Kalinda. Having families at school, enjoying their time with their children, and working together with our staff to make these events possible builds a wonderful school culture.
As we complete the first half of the 2022 school year, I reflect on the achievements of students and staff during this time. Teachers and Education Support staff have worked effortlessly to ensure we deliver engaging, differentiated learning for all of our students and we continue to be committed to building the well-being literacy of our students.
Our students have made great progress with their learning and it has been particularly pleasing to see the fantastic skills and aptitudes demonstrated by our students every day. We are committed to building great life-long learners and great citizens. This is supported every day by working with students to build their capacity to work independently, strive for their personal best, develop skills in teamwork and actively practise and build their interpersonal skills.
I look forward to a great second half of the year. I wish all of our students, families, and staff a happy and restful holidays.
For any families in our community with younger siblings planning to come to begin at Kalinda in 2023, we would ask that you please submit their enrolment form as soon as possible. This allows us to begin planning for 2023.
