Hello Hillsmeade families!
Welcome back to Term 3. I trust that you all had an enjoyable rest period with family and friends and are looking forward to some warmer weather coming our way!
Just to update you all, newsletters will now be provided on the 'even' weeks of term, with assemblies being held on 'odd' weeks.
Monday 25th July & Tuesday 26th July 3.30pm - 7pm
We are looking forward to seeing you all next week for Semester 2 Parent Teacher Interviews. We encourage you to bring your child along to be a part of the conversation regarding their learning. Don't forget to book an interview time on Compass if you haven't already done so.
As mentioned last term, Curriculum Day is planned for Tuesday 9th August. OSHC will be available on the day.
The Department of Education and Training has provided schools again with the option to hold each teacher’s allocated professional practice day on the same day for all staff. This is to enable the most effective and efficient use of this day.
As a result, we have scheduled our professional practice day for Wednesday 7th September. Students will therefore not be required to attend school on this day.
OSHC services will be available for our students.
A huge thank you to our HPS community for your donations on PJ Day! We raised $942.75 for the Cancer Council. An amazing result and what a comfy way to fundraise!
I am asking our families to ensure you have read the letter regarding masks, provided by the Department of Education, posted on Compass on 19/7/22. It is an expectation that school staff and students aged 8 and above wear masks indoors at school, throughout winter. We seek your support for a collective effort during this time.
It is also a timely reminder to ensure you are utilising the free RATs that are provided by the Department and test as per most recent requirements.
EXEMPTIONS FOR TESTING AND ISOLATION:
The period of time when someone is considered a recently confirmed case and therefore exempt from testing and isolation requirements has been reduced from the previous 12 weeks to 4 weeks.
This means that staff and children who are household contacts of people with COVID-19 are now required to undertake the testing and isolation requirements from 4 weeks after completing isolation with COVID-19. Previously, this exemption period was 12 weeks.
After the 4-week exemption period, students and staff members who are a household contact of a new COVID-19 case, must follow the rules for household contacts, including reporting this to their school.
As part of this household contacts must take 5 rapid antigen tests (RATs) over 7 days and receive negative test results and wear a face mask (if over 8 years old) in indoor spaces.
This term Book Week is scheduled for 22-26 August! During that week we will hold a dress up day and parade as well as an open afternoon/evening on Tuesday 23rd August 4.30-6.30pm. Pop the week/dates in your diaries and start planning the costumes!!
Stay well everyone and ensure you are following general positive health and wellbeing habits such as eating healthy, sleeping well, covering mouth/nose if sneezing and coughing and regularly washing your hands. Take care!
