Upcoming Learning

During the next fortnight, students will be undertaking learning in following areas:

Reading	Phonics: -We are learning about the 'ie' diagraph. -We are learning about when 'y' makes the long i sound at the end of a word. Exploring 'The magic hat' and 'The very crank bear.' We are demonstrating our understanding of these narratives by sequencing, answering comprehension questions and describing character traits. Making text-to-self connections. Weekly sight word and decoding practice.
Writing	We are learning about writing narratives. We are exploring all of the elements to include in the beginning of a narrative, including the setting, characters and writing sizzling starters to engage the reader.
Maths	We are focusing on place value and are learning about hundreds, tens and ones and how these make up numbers. We are exploring mass of every day objects, using scales and hefting.
Science	We are beginning our unit on 'Physical Science.' We are investigating light and sound and changes around us.
Inquiry	We are beginning our unit on Sustainability, looking at what this means and investigating ways that we can care for our environment.
Social & emotional learning	We are setting ourselves personal goals for Term 3. We are exploring what makes us similar and different to those around us and how differences make us unique and special!

News and Reminders

-Please send blue reading bags to school daily so teachers can check in with sight words and night of reading.

-Please pack spare clothes, particularly socks during this cold and wet weather.

-Please make sure any jumpers, beanies or winter clothing items are clearly named.
