Premiers!

The end of last term came with plenty of excitement as Gala Days for netball and football were held on Friday June 17. St Raphael's was well represented in both sports with our mixed netball team finishing runners up while our football team took out the Preston District premiership.

It was a phenomenal effort from our footballers who managed to win all their group games bar one. The game they lost was to Preston West who they then played off against in the Grand Final. Being down by 5 points at the main break in the decider, the whole team showed fantastic character and determination to pull off a remarkable victory by a couple of points in a thrilling finale. The pride and excitement the team enjoyed in the aftermath was palpable.

It must be said that the success experienced by our relatively small school compared to some of the others is a testament to the spirit and pride of the students. This is a tradition that we should all be very proud of.

Our footballers will now play off in the Division Finals against Northcote and St Joseph The Worker next Tuesday July 26 at Anthony Beale Reserve, St Helena. Our first match starts at 11.20am.

Hoop Time

The 3/4 Hoop Time is another example of our school exceeding expectations and achieving great results with our girls team managing a commendable fourth while the boys took out the title of premiers! Again this is a performance that all the students involved should be very proud of. Congratulations to both teams and thank you to Ms Hirschauer and Ms Mac for coaching the teams and looking after the students on the day.

The 5/6 Hoop Time will be held at Coburg Stadium next Friday July 29 from 9.30. Again we will be represented by a girls team and a boys team. Good luck to all the students!

Term 3 Dance Program

This term we are fortunate to be able to enjoy the services of the Inner West Dance Company who will be taking the students through a dance program over the next six weeks. The culmination of this will be a whole school dance performance at the Loyola College concert hall on the evening of Friday September 9. Stay tuned for further details as we get further into the term.
