Foundation student are learning about the observable properties of different materials. Students began by selecting and describing different materials. Together we started to make a word wall to describe different materials.
Students are learning about forces, specifically that a push or pull can change the shape or movement of objects. We began by exploring how a push and pull affects different toys. We made a table describing how we made toys move.
Students are also learning about forces, specifically how forces can be exerted by one object onto another either directly or indirectly.
Students began by exploring magnets and magnetism in the science room. Students then reflected on what they think they know and what they want to know about magnetic forces.
Year 5/6 students are learning that sudden geological changes or extreme weather conditions can affect Earth’s surface. Students are focusing on volcanoes in this unit. Students began this unit by observing an animated overview of the effects of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and created a T-chart on volcanoes as 'creators' and 'destroyers'. Students also listed what they think they know about volcanoes and what they want to learn about volcanoes.
Students from Year 3 - 6 also took some time to view and discuss the new and amazing images of space from the James Webb Space Telescope.
The images recently release by NASA reveal space like we have never seen it before. The first image released shows part of the universe as it appeared 4.6 billion years ago and is the deepest and sharpest infrared image of the universe we have ever had. Students were amazed, inspired and curious about the images and space. You can learn more about the telescope here and view the astonishing images here.
