Melbourne ADF Careers Fair 2022 – Saturday 25 June

This is your opportunity to gain firsthand experience with some of the Defence's advanced equipment and learn about Defence’s careers available in the Navy, Army and Air Force. Defence Force Recruiting will be hosting this ADF Careers Fair at 2/10 Light Battery, 6-10 Chapel St, St Kilda. What to expect on the day:

  • Navy, Army & Air Force equipment, vehicles and demonstrations
  • Experienced ADF Personnel to chat to about all your career questions
  • Simulators and Virtual Reality
  • Merchandise and Brochures for attendees

Students and their families are encouraged to attend the FREE public event running on Saturday 25 June. *Please note that parking around the site is very limited, therefore either bus drop off or public transport is recommended. Windsor Train Station is a 5 minute walk to the venue or there is a tram service that stops right outside.

Monash Art, Design & Architecture (MADA) School Holiday Program

  1. How to build and document your fine art folio at Monash – Monday 27 June, 9:30am to 3:30pm 

Join this Monash Caulfield campus event for a series of folio enhancing activities led by Fine Art academics and get a taste of student life as part of their creative community. You'll not only learn how to build your fine art folio to apply for admission at Monash University but also have the opportunity to undertake a live drawing workshop and produce a series of drawings to add to your folio. The day will end with a curator-led tour of the renowned Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA). Register here.

  1. Experience Day at Art, Design and Architecture – Tuesday 5 July, 10am to 3:30pm.

If you're a Year 10-12 student thinking about studying design or architecture, this is the perfect school holiday activity day for you. MADA will be running two workshops for each area; once in the morning (10am –12:30pm) and again in the afternoon (1pm –3:30pm). So you if you can't choose which one you'd like to do, why not do both? Photography Studies College Winter Holiday Workshops – 28 and 29 June, 11am to 2pm

  1. The ‘how to’ camera workshop on Tuesday 28 June – learn tips about using and being creative with your Digital SLR or Mirrorless camera from a professional.
  2. The ‘light & shade’ studio still life workshop on Wednesday 29 June – learn how to create beautiful still life, product and object photographs in our 350 square metre purpose-built professional studio.

Discover ACU: Melbourne campus on 28 June and Ballarat campus on 30 June

ACU invites students to attend their free Discover ACU events to get a taste of university life before they enrol. Victorian students will be able to explore the Melbourne and Ballarat campuses, participate in hands-on workshops tailored to their study area of interest, and chat with current ACU students. These are popular events so registration is essential. To view upcoming ACU campus events and to register click here.

Monash University Science Precinct Tours running from 28 June to 6 July

If Year 12 students would like to take a closer look and see where they could be studying next year, this is a great chance to visit the Monash Science facilities and student spaces. Get a feel for campus life and have a chat with some Monash science students and staff. Also, if you need some course advice they can help with that as well. Register here.

JMC Acting Workshop: How to ace your audition – Saturday 2 July, 10:30am to 2:30pm

JMC Academy Melbourne are excited to be running an Acting Workshop for high school students in years 9–12 during the July school holidays. This hands-on and physical workshop introduces students to the concepts of performance technique and auditioning. Students will also participate in mock auditions where they perform a selected scene in front of an industry lecturer (and the rest of the group) and receive personalised feedback on their performance. This workshop is designed for beginners and you do not need any experience to participate! For more info and to purchase a ticket click here.

SAE Create for a Day – Saturday 2 July, 10am to 3pm

SAE Melbourne is opening its doors again this July for SAE Create for a Day, a one-day program to expand student skills and get them working on inspiring creative projects in the fields of Animation, Audio, Design, Film, Games, Music Production or Songwriting. Students will get the chance to experience life as an SAE student and discover what it means to be a creative professional in state-of-the-art facilities with industry experts by their side. Attendees will learn valuable practical and collaborative skills as they work towards building a creative piece of work. They will also receive a certificate of participation to acknowledge the creative project they have undertaken. This event is open to anyone aged 15yrs and above (Year 10 and over). Collarts Winter Workshop Series 2022 – weekend of 2 and 3 July, 10am to 4pm

Collarts are opening their doors to Victorian High School students in years 10, 11 and 12, to take part in a series of practical, hands-on workshops in the winter school holidays. Come and experience what it's like to live a day in the life of a Collarts student. They have 9 workshops to choose from across 2 days covering Animation, Audio Engineering, Music Performance, Fashion, Screen and Media, Interior Design, Photography, and Acting. University of Melbourne’s ComputeFest 2022 – Tuesday 5 July, 11am to 5pm

Computing and Information Systems Student Association (CISSA) at the University of Melbourne are hosting one of their biggest events for high school students, ComputeFest 2022, where they strive to diversify their community by bringing together young people with an interest and passion in technology. Year 10-12 students are invited to this free online event on Tuesday 5th July from 11am to 5pm. What will be included at the 2022 ComputeFest can be found below. Students must register here before Monday 27 June to secure a place. Registered students will receive an email a week before with zoom links, agenda and other workshop information.

  • Seminar 1: Industry Panel + Diversity in the Technology Field
  • Hands-on Workshop: An introduction to coding 
    • Workshop 1 - Beginner
    • Workshop 2 - Intermediate* 
  • Seminar 2: Course Options + A day in the life of a UoM Computer Science Student

*Students with a prior coding background are encouraged to attend the Intermediate Workshop but can choose to join the Beginner Workshop if they find the content to be difficult. 

Monash Do it with DATA: Pandemics, people and bioinformatics – Tuesday 5 July, 9am to 3:30pm

Students looking to combine their interests in maths and computer science are encouraged to consider attending Monash’s 'Do it with DATA: Pandemics, People and Bioinformatics' event. The field of bioinformatics is a fast-paced and increasingly growing career with many opportunities in a variety of fields. This school holiday, hands on activity allows Year 11s and 12s to explore the emerging field of bioinformatics. Prerequisite: Attendees must be currently studying or have previously completed Mathematical Methods 3/4 Cost: $10 (non-refundable) Location: Monash Clayton Campus. A Day at Melbourne – Thursday 7 July 2022 from 9am to 3pm

The University of Melbourne is once again hosting their ‘A Day at Melbourne’ event during the school holidays for Year 11-12 students at their Parkville campus. Attend a lecture, hear from current students and chat to staff about courses, student societies and what you can look forward to as a UniMelb student.
