Harley Dalton and mum Kylie ready to ride for the Child Cancer Research Foundation.

Members of the John Wollaston community are invited to support the Child Cancer

Research Foundation through various ways including the South West Bike Trek, Virtual Bike Ride Challenge, Shop for a Cure Op Shop or attending the charity's upcoming Quiz Night. We sat down to talk with the mums of Little Wollies student Harley Dalton who are heavily involved with the Foundation's charitable work.

What is your involvement with the Child Cancer Research Foundation?

Kylie is the General Manager of the charity and Michele is the Senior Graphic Designer. Both of us have been working for CCRF for over 10 years and have a passion for making a difference. There is so much research still needed into childhood cancer and treatment protocols for children, that we need to keep funding.

How can families get involved in the Bike Trek events?

They can sign up at swbiketrek.com.au, nominate the distance they want to attempt and fundraise by sharing their profile page on social media. Families can create their own family team, register each person to be a part of the team and challenge each other.

What does this event mean to you?

One in 500 Australian children will develop cancer before 15 years of age – that’s 1,000 Australian children and adolescents (0-19) diagnosed every year. Childhood cancer is the single greatest cause of death from disease in Australian children, with three children losing their lives to cancer every week. The more we can do to support research and find a cure, the more hope we can give to those affected by childhood cancer.
