Konnichiwa, minasan! (Hello, everyone!)
Foundation
Foundation students have been learning fruits, days of the week, and ‘I eat…’ through the famous story ‘Harapeko Aomushi (The Very Hungry Caterpillar)’, by Eric Carle, in Japanese. They also started using weather words, days of the week and a variety of answers to the roll question ‘genki desu ka?’ (How are you?) every lesson as part of the lesson routine.
Grade1/2
Under the unit ‘My Vending Machine’, Grade 1 and 2 students have been working on additional fruit names, juices, feeling temperature words (hot and cold), important shopping phrases ‘ikura desu ka?’ (How much is it?), and Japanese currency in Kanji characters. The photos showcase how engaged the students are when they are working on the revision Blooket game!
Grade 3/4
Grade 3 and 4 students have been introduced to ‘Sports Day’ games in Japanese schools. And they have been also working on reading and writing Hiragana letters; ‘なにぬねの (na ni nu ne no)・はひふへほ (ha hi fu he ho)・まみむめも(ma mi mu me mo)・やゆよ (ya yu yo)’.
Grade 5/6
Grade 5 and 6 students celebrated their first Japanese lesson by revising their self-introductory phrases and playing a revision Blooket game on Hiragana letters; はひふへほ (ha hi fu he ho)・まみむめも(ma mi mu me mo).
Whole school
