Business Tycoon - Year 9 Project

Specifically for you - Malika, Grace, Awak, Isabelle

Specifically, for you, a business group, composed of four students, Malika Pea, Grace Fernandes, Awak Mabour, and Isabelle Luong, sold themed stationery bundles! As a group we managed to obtain all the products needed to produce the bundles in time. We all worked well with each other with communication playing a key part. Challenges that were faced were meeting the deadline and actually finding what items we needed to buy.

All of us believe that we learned that it's definitely important to learn time management skills as even though we did meet the deadline, it's the truth to say that we did panic a lot that we wouldn't find everything in time. The Business Tycoon has been a wonderful and fun experience for us all and we are very grateful for the chance to do this project.

Urban Aesthetics - Natalie, Naomi, Angelina, Anugraha

This Term we had the privilege of engaging in business tycoon classes, in this class we were given the opportunity to create our own mini business. Our group decided to create our very own self-care/beauty package business. Even though the time we had was limited, we were able to strive forward and face challenges. Throughout this class, we gained many skills that will help us in our future endeavours. These skills include customer service skills, money handling and problem-solving. One challenge we faced was time management as we were given limited time and had to follow a schedule. Some of our achievements include making sales and attracting customers to our products and also being able to manage our budget. Overall this experience was enjoyable and educational.

BEADZ - Katelyn, Richi, Rawi, Jasmin

Starting a new business is stressful. In Term 4, our business tycoon class got to have a taste of what it was like to make, sell and organise products for a community, My group and I, consisting of four members, decided to call ourselves BEADZ and sell cute phone charms. It was a difficult process, from collecting orders to hand making our products and figuring out how our charms would be attached. We decided to stick to eco-friendly packaging, making them from paper. One of the most rewarding things of this was seeing people gleam at the excitement of their new phone charm. Despite all the challenges we faced we were still able to provide unique charms to everyone.

Kalopsia - Talia, Lena, Christeena, Tamanna

Kalopsia was a startup business at Killester College, Springvale. It was privately owned by Talia Mercieca, Lena Nguyen, Christeena Byju and Tamanna Saini. The business sold different types of bundles including products for skincare, stationary and even accessories. Some challenges we faced included customers cancelling their orders near the pick up date, customers not paying for their orders and items not arriving in time. We were able to overcome this challenge using flexibility and communication skills. Overall, we were proud that we were able to make and execute a business in just a term. We were able to plan our business and expenses so that we had a profit. We were also proud of our packaging, as it was reusable and sustainable and it was also made by us, so it was exclusive to our business. From this experience, we’re taking away the skills to co-operate in teams as well as planning, budgeting and general social skills.
