Clyde North Campus News

Celebrations
It hardly seems possible that this is the final newsletter for 2021.
We know the struggles and the difficulties we have all faced during the year but now is the time for celebration or as one local popstar, Tones and I puts it: But your momma always said, "Look up into the sky Find the sun on a cloudy day". I think we can all take some inspiration for these lyrics; it is too easy to just think about what we missed out on this year. But what if we did look for sun in every day, cloudy or fine? What a difference this would make to our mindset, heart, and energy levels. Optimism is critical for our wellbeing and our ability to remain resilient regardless of what clouds come our way. Therefore, this newsletter is all about finding the sun, the celebration and joy in the last few weeks of term. By doing this we are preparing ourselves for the end of term and the beginning of what will be an amazing Christmas time and holidays.
The celebrations that we enjoyed over the past two weeks include:
- VET Hospitality putting the most delicious breakfast for staff. Thank you!
- A moving tribute on Remembrance Day.
- Active Learning Day
- Road Smart incursion for year 10 students
- Head Start – the most exciting day of the term as all students moved into their classes for 2022. Suddenly year 7s are year 8 right through to the new year 12 cohort coming together.
There is always much to celebrate, we just need to make sure we do look for the sun on a cloudy day.
The 2021 Graduation
This event shone through on every level, the joy of being able to bring the 2021 year 12 students back together on campus to celebrate their Graduation was indeed the highlight of the year. How grown up they looked in their formal outfits complete with graduating sash and motor board. My sincere thanks to parents, House Leaders, Learning Advisors, and the students for all the work that went into ensuring that the Graduation Ceremony and House farewells were most memorable events.
To see the Graduates, enter the Francis Building as responsible young men and woman proudly displaying smiles of love and respect their peers, teachers and the College was remarkable. I could write much about this wonderful day, but I prefer to let the photographs tell the story of joy.
The last few photographs brought the day to a close. The College Captains with myself and the Principal, Mr Black paid a final respect to the College, laying their legacy plague which will be shaded in the years to come by a tree planted on their behalf.
And the very last photo I share with you as it sums up beautifully the journey of the graduating class of 2021, lifelong friendships, and new beginnings.
Rosemary Graham 2022 Shield Competition Launch
We were all very excited to be able to launch the 2022 Rosemary Graham House Competition and in traditional style with the Tug-of War.
The energy of students and staff was second only to the passion of Mr Antione's (Assisi House Leader) cheering. As the campus has grown so much, we needed to revamp this event. Rather than the whole House versing another House we shifted to year levels from each House taking on each other. It worked great with far more students getting involved in the fun. This was a celebration today and the order of winners are:
Congratulations and we look forward with great enthusiasm for the 2022 Swimming and Athletics Carnivals, Cross-Country and Golf events, plus the wonderful fun lunch time House Events throughout each term.
My thanks to Mr Stewart and Mr Samaranayake for organising and running the Tug-of-War. Well
Well done everyone.
