Science News

All students having been enjoying and engaging in the Science transition from Year 7 to 11 for 2022. There have been a range of activities in different year levels such as observing the properties of light, witnessing flames that don’t burn, qualitatively observing the diffusion of agar and noticing that elements produce different flame colours just to name a few.

As we are finishing the year in Science I thought families might enjoy watching some Science documentaries over the school holiday together. Here are some recommendations for you:

ABC IVIEW: Universe with Brian Cox

Go on an interstellar journey to places we did not know existed 10 years ago.

ABC IVIEW: The Chemical World

How did elements on Earth create life on planet Earth?

ABC IVIEW: Australia’s Ocean Odyssey: A journey down the East Coast Australian current

Lean about the marine life that exists from Queensland to Victoria

ABC IVIEW: War on Waste –Series 1 and 2

Join Craig Reucassel learning about what waste we create in Australia and what we can do about it.

ABC IVIEW: Australia Remastered: Wild Australians

Explore some of Australia’s fascinating animals. From the kangaroos, wombat, orca etc.

I highly recommend watching the parrots episode.

I hope you enjoy exploring these Science videos and that all GEC families have a restful and relaxing holiday break.
